With all the hype about the end of the world, or apocalypse, on the 21st of December I figured that if it really is true then its that time to do what you know you can’t do. Right? Well I know a lot of guys that would prefer to get in bed with like a celebrity or their crushes, or the hottest girl they know. I say, fuck that shit. You can always have sex before the world ends or if the apocalypse does not come true. So regardless, having sex doesn’t seem like the best thing to do when the world will come to an end. I say, if the world would end, why not do something that you couldn’t actually do if the world doesn’t end. Before I say what I would do when the world ends, please do not label me to be a morbid or deranged human being. I simply used logic to formulate what I feel seems more worth doing in the apocalypse, if it is true. So, I found that going on an all out rampage is the best thing to do in the end of the world because there is no time in a human being’s life that it would be appropriate or legal to go on an all out rampage. So if we are all going to die, it seems logical to just go destroy shit and what not. If the world is gonna end, might as well have fun with it right? hahaha. Boredom leads to the most random and irrelevant ideas. =]
In my Comparative Government class today, my professor discussed something that sparked my interests. He discussed about how the infrastructure of the roads in the Philippines was actually designed for “left-hand” drive vehicles. He said that a lot of the roads around Manila doesn’t make sense because it was not designed for “right-hand” drive cars. It intrigued me because, it became questionable to me that our country did not return to that same system. First, it would’ve lessened traffic in the country. Second, it would actually be much cheaper to import cars since most of the neighboring countries in the Philippines and the countries that actually manufacture cars are using the “left-hand” drive standards. I learned earlier that the Philippines are importing “right-hand” drive cars from distant countries and are paying extra costs for importing from “left-hand” drive countries to make the vehicles “right-hand” drive. At first I thought it is an extremely difficult process to shift the directions in which our cars drive but my professor stated that there have been a number of countries that have accomplished the task. It seems odd that our country has not yet shifted to the “left-hand” drive standard when it will actually be more beneficial for our country. It would actually mean less cost in investing in the infrastructure of the Philippines. I am actually optimistic about shifting the driving direction but the possibility of actually realizing the shift is extremely low due to the many flaws of the Philippines politically. I find that our country still has a long way to go but if there are no flaws in the Philippine system then there will be no improvements to the government, economy, and social sectors of the country.
Its been a while since my girlfriend and I went out to see a movie. Originally, we were going to see Taken 2. However, we found out that TED was showing. So instead, we saw TED. The movie was hilarious. I never thought that Seth MacFarlane could direct such a great movie. For those who don’t know, Seth MacFarlane is the creator of Family Guy. I didn’t think that he could produce such a great work since I know Seth MacFarlane to be a creator of comedies with tons of random puns. Anyway, the movie was hilarious. It showed a man who wished his teddy bear to life. The wish came true and his teddy bear became his best friend for life. Ironically, when you think of teddy bears you think of huggable and cute little toys. Ted, was not those kinds of teddy bears. He was cute and cuddly but at the same time he LOVES to party. Ted smokes weed, drinks a lot, and have sex with random girls. This movie is now officially one of my favorite movies of all time. Ironically, it also became my girlfriend and I’s couple movie. For those who haven’t seen this movie, please do watch it. It is worth seeing.
Congratulations to the Philippine Azkals for beating Chinese-Taipei earlier 3 to 1!!!! I’m glad that my first time to watch a live football game was the championship game of the national team. Also, it was an ecstatic feeling being a part of a growing movement in the Philippines. Watching the game and cheering with Ultras Filipinas gave me an unbelievable natural high! The non-stop chanting and cheering was unparalleled and was an unforgettable experience. I am proud to be a part of an expanding movement in Philippine sports and am excited to take part again for the next game. It is truly a privileged opportunity to be a part of a progressing movement rather than be part of a mainstream hype where the ecstasy of the moment is not as significant. I invite others to be a part of Ultras Filipinas and to support Philippine football as a growing sport, and of course, the Philippine Azkals who raised the flag for our country and gave us another championship and strengthened our competitiveness in the realm of world sports.
I may not be very textbook when it comes to expressing my religious beliefs. I mean I’m not the type of guy you will see at church every week nor the person you will see that always supports the church. In fact, I’m nearly the complete opposite. It really bothers me that there are tons of people in the social networking arena that posts a lot of “God” related stuff. Also, many of those claim that God is their main source of inspiration and what not. Honestly, people like that are just lying to themselves. If God is really their inspiration, then why is it that they are worried that they will not make money after finishing college? Their real motivation, or inspiration, is their own survivability in the real world. Frankly, thats fine. It is the natural habitat of humans to worry about their own survival. What bugs me is that people are denying their own nature and are using their savior as a cover up. To say that God is truly your inspiration is to actually say to yourself that you are prepared to vanquish all of your vices and serve Him through His instrument to the human race, the Bible. People say that they are being thankful to God, but yet people continue to have vices and such. There are many people out there that acts so centered on religion and yet you will see them at clubs and parties. I find that being thankful to God is actually making the best of your own life and to live His word is to be a genuine hunan being towards others and to accept that you are faulty and is not ashamed to a point that you are trying to hide it by claiming you are extremely religious.
Ok. I study at DLS-CSB and I came from California and I swear on everything I do not talk like that. Honestly, I’m fuckin tired of people that hella try to exaggerate their english just so they can sound American. Quite frankly, there isn’t anything wrong about not having the American accent when speaking english. Its all about what you’re saying. Your pronunciation might not sound perfect but at least you have some sense when you’re talking. Anyways, I noticed that people hella exaggerate their accent just to socialize with high class or “coño” people. Ain’t that a shame. Its really pathetic that we are embarrassed of the way we speak english, but if you do think about it why would it matter if we speak perfect english or not. English is not our primary language, its Filipino mainly because we are Filipinos (no shit!!!). I apologize to those who reads this post, that it is a very selfish perspective, but I AM FUCKIN TIRED OF HEARING PEOPLE WHO TRY TOO DAMN HARD TO NOT SOUND FILIPINO! For the record, you can tell who are raised with English being their first language and those who are trying hard. So not everyone that speaks english is affected by this post, only those who are trying to act like foreigners and shit.
Again another tragedy struck this beautiful archipelago. Again we have dozens of flooded area within the Metro Manila area and a few provinces that neighbor our capital. I raise this question to the people, when will we ever learn? When will we ever prepare for events such as these? We know too well that our country has a high tendency of flooding and yet we don’t do anything to fix the problem. No I’m not trying to be a hippy and blame people for cutting down trees. Quite frankly I’m not against chopping down trees and what not, but that’s a whole different story. Anyways, I hate to admit but Filipinos do have a bad habit of not preparing for this season. We always prepare for diseases but never for calamities. There aren’t enough lifeboats for dispatch when floods appear in the Philippines nor are there enough trained rescuers for those who are unfortunate. So when will we ever learn? I’d love to point out that we do have rainy seasons, that these events occur when its around this time of the year. We only started taking more precautions when Ondoy hit our country. So we’re only prepared if we know that there is a powerful typhoon that’s going to be coming in our territory? Why? Why couldn’t we prepare for the season instead of the weather predictions of PAGASA? I am honestly sympathetic for those who are stuck and have felt the repercussions of this heavy rain, but I believe that it is time for our country (not just our government but everybody) to begin taking more precautionary measures not just for storms but for the season.
At first I thought I was going to regret not following through with my application for NMUN China. I knew I was going to help out my friends in establishing a skatepark for their village and that was enough reason for me to give up my application. However, I never thought I would have to go through something more fulfilling by going forward with my friends and their ambitions. At first I thought it would just be a petition that we would really have to defend well in front of their Village Association but I was mistaken. We ended up working with a member of their Board of Governors and being tasked to create a Non-Government Organization within their village. I was privileged to draw up the charter for their organization and I am happy with my responsibility. It was surprising to me that instead of being tasked to represent my school in an environment where I deal with other students on real-life issues, I am now tasked with an job that can actually make a difference in an area. I am well-aware that what I am privileged to do is not something large-scale but still I am glad that whatever we accomplish will actually make a difference. I do admit that NMUN will help my resumé and my academic status and what not, but I am more accomplished that I am actually inputting the skills that I learned in school into actual practice. Also, it makes me more accomplished to do these tasks due to the fact that I haven’t even graduated yet. I admit some of my actions will be crude but still I know I can pull it off since I am putting my heart into my work. Basically, I have no regrets for backing out of NMUN. Quite frankly, I’m happy that I did. Otherwise, I’ll just be an average student who’s out there chasing an exceptional resumé. My school’s creed is that we “do ordinary things extraordinarily well”, but I disagree with it because I would prefer to do “extraordinary things, extraordinarily well.” So no regrets with NMUN since I am particularly proud to be apart of helping out my friends since I find what they are doing to be more meaningful, fulfilling, and unselfish in the sense that we are doing this for the benefit of the community.
Yesterday, I saw the Impeachment Trial of “former” Chief Justice Renato Corona. I noticed that a majority of senators that voted guilty were basing their decisions on their own interpretation of the constitution. I was in class when I saw the impeachment. My professor for Philippine Foreign Policy stated that their votes were based on “personal vendettas” against the former chief justice. Along with the votes of the senators were speeches that declared why they came to their conclusion. I noticed that some of the senators were already campaigning for the next election. It then gave me the impression that the votes of the senators were not just based on “personal vendettas” but were influenced by the trend that the former chief justice is a corrupt man and should be impeached. According to Miriam Defensor’s speech, the senators’ verdicts were based on their own interpretations of the constitution. In my own PERSONAL opinion (and I can’t stress that this whole statement is out of my own personal opinion), the verdicts that the senators concluded were based on the trending influence that the former chief justice is guilty of corruption. It is funny that there is a vast majority of people that are unaware of what the charges are towards the former chief justice. The fact that the word “impeachment” appeared on the news gave a negative impression to the society of this country that the man is automatically guilty beyond reasonable doubt. It truly sickens me that this is the current political culture of this great nation-state. Not only does this apply to the politics of this country, it also applies within the sociological dimensions. For example, skateboarders in this country are already labeled as deviants, addicts, or criminals. Whereas, regardless how deviant people are that plays basketball are still accepted by this society as proper people. So where am I going with by writing this blog down? Simple, I am just spreading awareness that the current society of the Republic of the Philippines is twisted and needs to liberalize its society.
